Wroclaw's town square

Wroclaw is the fourth biggest city in Poland and the biggest city in the west of the country.
Wroclaw's town square was laid out in 1242 at the latest.



























At the beginning of its existence, towards the end of the thirteenth century, the town square possessed a single level building with a tower on the west side. Throughout the following centuries, until the turn of the fifteenth and sixteenth century, the edifice was frequently expanded and decorated to become the most beautiful example of a secular gothic building in Poland.

Make sure you keep an eye out for dwarfs. There are currently over 50 small statues of dwarfs scattered around the old town, each engaged in his own hobby.
